I kinda thought "autokill" was already implemented but apparently not. What's the consensus on implementing true autokill for both players and monsters? -rfc

It's no autokill, but I think something has been implemented. I occasionally get whacked on by ninjas for 50-200 which I don't remember occurring before.

From what I hear true AK has not been implemented but "critical hits" have. That would explain the big hits from the critters and (rare for me!) big hits against them.
I don't really remember how AK used to work - I know there was "player AK" and "monster AK" but really have no idea of when they kicked in and what the effects were.
Anyone remember how this used to work and what classes/monster types had it?

Hmm.
Let's see. I know Ravers, Titans, Ninja and Purple Worms had auto kill.
I believe, but am not certain, that certain dragons had it as well.
I don't recall whether pure fighter types (Lords) had it.

True Auto-Kill was converted to a damage bonus sometime around 1981 or 1982 for both players and monsters. Adding to Andy's list Ninjas and Lords both had auto-kill.
I think once auto-kill is implemented it will change some of the game dynamics for the better. With an all or nothing auto-kill maximizing your AC becomes more important throughout the dungeon.
